“Nezuko-ni-mori” is the round trekking course starting from the top of Iwatake. It takes about 1.5 hours to complete. It was cool in the dark green leafy shade of trees as it’s the beginning of June. “Nezuko Large Tree” and “Azumaya Cottage” are great turning points depending on your physical strength or schedule. There are swings, playing nets and slacklines at the entrance.

You can find some twisting trees of Buna (beech), Nezuko and Mizunara (Mongolian oak) in the forest. For example, one of the thick twisting trees in the depth of the course, “Uma-buna”, looks like horseback. A guided tour walking around the forest is available every day. The short tour takes about 60 mins (Adult 1,000 yen, Child 500 yen), while the long tour takes about 120 mins (Adult 1,500 yen, Child 1,000 yen).

The sunshine gradually got stronger as high atmospheric pressure covered Japan island. Meanwhile, band-like clouds hang over the Northern Alps. I saw some people relaxing on the benches and some playing with their children and dogs in front of Sky Ark.

There was the sweet scent of bread from THE CITY BAKEY at HAKUBA MOUNTAIN HARBOR. I enjoyed Bakers Muffin containing cinnamon, apples, walnuts and raisins (480 yen, left side in the photo) and Mixed Berry Scone (440 yen).

A shuttle bus service connecting Iwatake/Happo and Tsugaike is available until Oct.27 (Sun). You can take the shuttle bus for free if you have a riding ticket or an exchange ticket for Hakuba Iwatake Mountain Resort, Happo Alpen Line or Tsugaike Panoramaway.
