Tsugaike Kogen / ×15cm / Cloudy2022.Nov.16

22111601_tsugaikeA blanket of white reached all the way down to the base of the mountain this morning, despite the fact that there were no signs of snow at all until yesterday evening. The entire resort was covered in snow early today, with the exception of the lowest stretches of the Kane-no-naru-oka Slope. There was around 3cm of accumulation mid mountain, such as on the last part of Han-no-ki (pictured) and the Maruyama Slope. Lower down on the Oya-no-hara and Karamatsu slopes there was a dusting of around 1cm.

22111602_tsugaikeAbout 10cm of snow fell across the upper to mid sections of the Shirakaba Slope (pictured). Heading up the forest road, even the asphalt was covered in snow, indicating that ground temperatures are cooling steadily as well. It looked more and more like a winter landscape above the gondola mid-station where snow had settled on the trees.

22111603_tsugaikeThere was between 13 and 15cm of snow in the area alongside the Han-no-ki High Speed Pair Lift (pictured). With temperatures below 0℃ and only faint sunlight, the snow at the top of the resort was high-quality, dry snow.

22111604_tsugaikeA similar 13 to 15cm of snow had settled on the Tsuga-no-mori Slope (pictured). The wind was light but fog was moving in and out quickly and repeatedly, cycling back and forth between improved and impaired visibility. When the fog did lift, the snowy landscape contrasted nicely against the blue sky.
