The end of rainy season was announced in Okinawa today (※6 days than the average year or last year). Clouds were not so thin in the morning and a little sunlight came through clouds in Hakuba around 9 a.m. The temperature was perfect, the trail was dry, and I enjoyed trekking along Happo One Nature Trail and around the lower area of Boardwalk.

There are about 50 kinds of alpine flowers in bloom along the course. I found Happo Usuyukiso, which is in Edelweiss family, when walking along the Ridge Trail. Yukiwariso flowers (shown in the photo) were still in bloom under Grat Quad line and around the pond, where snow was left till late.

The snow covering Happo-ike Pond was rapidly melting and benches on the side of No.3 Cairn became available. Chinguruma came into bloom and Koiwakagami, Harurindo and Iwashobu were still in bloom. I found lots of pretty flowers at my foot on my break.

I found pretty flowers of Tsumatorio before I reached No.2 Cairn (※ the leaves in the front of the photo is Takane Bara). Beautiful green flowers of Hakusan Taigeki also caught my eyes. It started to drizzle around 11 a.m.

By the way, “HAKUBA MOUNTAIN BEACH”, which is a beach resort-themed scenic terrace, will open on Jul. 26 (Fri)! The stairway to access to the beach had been already installed on the southern side of the building, while roofing work had not started yet.
