I found myself above clouds just as I started climbing and I saw the clear blue sky for the first time in a while. I enjoyed the walk to No.3 Cairn without getting my shoes dirty, even though the boardwalk was wet from the rain yesterday and there were some puddles on the ground.

I saw magnificent Hakuba Sanzan in the clouds to the north. The sea of clouds to the east was amazing in the morning and I saw people taking photos here and there. The sunlight was intense but the air was refreshing. I sometimes stopped and enjoyed the cool breeze.

I suppose it will take a little more time until summer flowers become in full bloom. For now, flowers of early summer, such as Harurindo (shown in the photo), Kijimusiro, Yukiwariso and Miyama Azumagiku, are at their best. I saw lots of Miyama Azumagiku flowers on the northern slope of Ridge Trail and Harurindo flowers around Happo-ike Pond.

The fog started to hang over the southern slope around 9 a.m, however, it soon lifted. Overall, it was a foggy day and a veil of mist obscured the view.

The ice is gradually melting at Happpo-ike Pond. I guess the popular deck where we can see Hakuba Sanzan reflected on the pond will be open in 10-14 day. There were many people heading for Shimo-no-kaba even though it was a weekday probably because the snow on the trail to Mt. Karamatsu is rapidly melting these days.
