After the rainy season has started, a front is stationary over the south of Japan. A little sunlight was coming through the clouds at the village but from the upper part of Grat Quad to the beginning of the nature trail was covered with the fog. The first half of the boardwalk was opened because snow was melted. (The last part was not open yet.)

Though, the sky was covered with clouds but after I reached Shakujii Cairn visibility got better. Haru-rindo, Urajiroyouraku, Shojobakama, Miyama-azumagiku were blooming along the trail. By the way, the toilet near No.2 Cairn was opened on June 18 (Tue).

After I climbed 100m from Happo Cairn, I heard a cry and I saw a ptarmigan with summer hair! Ptarmigans is living in altitude of 2000m to 3000m in the summer but you may meet them in Happo-ike Pond or Happo Nature Trail if the weather is foggy like today.

The remaining snow on Happo-ike Pond got lesser. I cannot see the North Alps because of the clouds is coming up constantly from north and south slope.

Many people were climbing toward Mt.Karamatsu with heavy equipment in the early morning, but after 10 a.m. only some people with small bag were climbing a little way further from Happo-ike Pond. It was very comfortable because the temperature was under 20°C. But it was bit chilly when I stopped climbing because the strong wind was blowing up from the ridge.
