The sky was dull and cloudy at the foot. The weather was cannot expected by the forecast, but I climbed up to Happo-one Nature Trail just in case. And, I came above the clouds and the blue sky spread! It was very crowded because of the Obon holidays and many people were taking pictures here and there.

The sea of clouds at the east was amazing, and people were looking back, on the way of climbing. The wind was blowing weakly from south to north, but the sunshine was strong, and I started to sweat when I came above the clouds near Shakujii Cairn.

There were puddles and some places of the route were muddy because of the last night’s rain. Wet grasses and flowers were shimmering, and I was attracted to Hakusan-shajin which were in full bloom. Takene-matsumushisou, Umebachisou, Iwashoubu and Tamurasou were also in bloom.

The cloud was stagnated in the altitude of Shakujii Cairn even at 10:00 a.m., and I could see the sea of clouds for long time. According to the weather forecast, it’s going to rain from the afternoon, so the hikers heading to Mt. Karamatsu were less. Instead, I saw many hikers go down and lightly-equipped people to Happo-ike Pond.

When I climb to Shimo-no-kanba, where Dakekanba (Erman’s birch) were making the shade, it became very cool. Leaves of the trees were very fresh and green, and I heard people saying, “It’s cool”, “I feel nice!”. Although the sky was bit dull, the view of Kaerazu-no-ken and Hakuba Sanzan floating in the sea of clouds were fantastic.
