It was beautiful weather from Aug.3 (Fri) to Aug.6 (Mon). Afterward, the weather has turned unpredictable at the top area since Aug.7 (Tue) due to Typhoon No.13. I had expected the clear weather after the typhoon passed, however, we had a light rain, although it was the first day of the Obon period. Anyway, there were many people, including the family in the photo and hikers leaving for Mt. Karamatsu, in the early morning.

Along Happo-one Nature Trail, you can find flowers of Hakusan-shajin, Tamurasou, Takane-matsumushisou, Umebachisou and Iwashobu, which are in bloom in the late summer and early autumn. I felt happy to find little lovely flowers of Miyamo-daimonjisou (shown in the photo). in those flowers.

It drizzled but it turned a misty rain later. The trail and rocks were slippery and I saw some people losing their balance. The temperature was low, and it was cold. On my way to Shimo-no-kanba, I felt comfortable, wearing a long-sleeved shirt and a raincoat.

By the time I reached Kami-no-kanba, the sky brightened and the sun sometimes came out. A couple coming from Osaka said to me, “We usually enjoy your reports! We’ve come for hiking, hoping that the weather will improve in the second half of the Obon period. We’re looking forward to your reports during 2018-2019 winter.”

The amount of snow has decreased dramatically in Ougi-no-Setsuden (snow field). The snow field was crowded with people who gave up going through Happo-ike pond because of the poor visibility. I saw some people wearing T-shirts here because the temperature increased in the daytime.
