You can enjoy Starbucks Coffee at “Happo Usagidaira Cafe” this summer too. Why don’t you take a break with a cup of iced drink in this hot season? In addition to drip coffee (390JPY), Cafe Americano (430JPY, left side in the photo) and Cafe Latte (460 JPY, right side in the photo) is also served. Only tall size is available for both hot and iced drinks.

Together with Happo Alpen Line, Karuizawa Primo (first floor of Usagidaira Terrace) has opened. There are tables inside and outside and you can have meals enjoying magnificent views on a sunny day. It is open everyday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. until Oct. 28 (Sun), when the gondola will be closed.

Primo’s specialty menu is original “fluffy” pasta using tomato cream sauce, beacon, fried eggplant and scrambled egg. (A set menu with salad and drink is JPY1,480.) Also, morning menu is available from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. (JPY500 set and JPY1,000 set).

By the way, though it was a hazy weather, it has been sunny for three days in a row since Jun.24 (Sun). Nikkoukisuge were in bloom at altitudes between Happo-ike Sanso and No.2 Cairn. I also found Iwashimotsuke along the trail. The upper area of the boardwalk was still closed because of the remaining snow.

As I reached the ridge, I felt hot but the gentle cool wind was nice. I met a staff member of Hakuba Mominoki Hotel who was trekking with his family on a holiday.
