I came above the cloud when I was riding Grat Quad. When I climbed up the ridge trail, the view got better and better, and I could see Yatsugatake, Central Alps and Southern Alps like floating in the cloud. Further, the upper part of boardwalk and toilet near No.2 Cairn were not open yet.

The snow of Happo-ike Pond is thawing nicely and snow started to crack. The steep mountain ranges of Kaerazu-no-ken, Mt. Hakuba Yarigatake and Mt. Shakushidake were set off against the clear blue sky and people were shouting with joy.

People were making long line before the gondola start at the base station, and half of them were well-outfitted hikers. The temperature was +11°C at 8 a.m. and I felt cold, but it got warmer with strong sunshine and many people were walking without jacket at 10 a.m.

The route from Happo-ike Pond to Kami-no-kanba was dry, same as Happo-one Nature Trail, and it was easy to walk. The steepest slope before Maruyama Cairn was still covered with snow, so I needed to attach crampons to my boots and I climbed along red markings.

The trail became dry again after Ougino-setsuden. Second snow slope before Maruyama Cairn was not that steep, so some people were climbing without crampons. At around 11 a.m., the clouds in the east started to scatter and a part of them started to rise along the slope.
