The clear blue sky spread although it was the rainy season right now. A couple from Australia told me that they would climb to the summit of Mt. Karamatsudake. The sunlight was strong but the gentle south wind was cool.

Snow that had remained between No.2 Cairn and Happo Cairn disappeared in last one week. The trail was dry and good for walking this morning. While I was walking along the ridge through Happo Cairn, I saw people taking pictures of the Northern Alps, including Mt. Goryudake, Mt. Kashima-yarigatake and Mt. Jiigatake.

The snow that covered the surface of Happo-ike Pond was almost starting to thaw. The “snow cover” had moved back 2–3 meters from the north bank of Happo-ike Pond. I heard some people who were taking a break saying “I saw a ptarmigan!”

There were just 10–15 people using gondola in the early morning as it was a weekday in the rainy season. Happo-one Nature Trail started to get crowded with people, including visitors from foreign countries, around 10:00 a.m.. By the way, Karamatsudake Sancho Sanso will open this weekend, on Jun. 16 (Sat).

I felt cool and comfortable in the leafy shade of Dakekanba (Erman’s birch) at Shimo-no-kanba. Taniutsugi and Ookamenoki were in blossom around there. A lady said to me, “I want to come again on a clear day by the end of this month because the air is clean and the view is beautiful in June!”
