The cold came back again from yesterday, Oct. 13 (Fri), and the temperature was just 9 degrees at 7:30 a.m. in Kurobishi-daira. The clouds were hanging over the middle parts of mountains and the lower half of the nature trail was in thick fogs often. During walking in Boardwalk course, the soft sunlight started to be cast.

Because of the rain falling until this dawn, the wooden paths were wet, After Boardwalk course, we could see the long-awaited blue sky…. After that, the cold wind brought the fogs sometimes, but there was almost always the sunlight. The weather forecast said the weather would be changeable today, so only some hikers were there in the early time.

Finally, the weather got better and we could see the 3 peaks of Hakuba. The sea of clouds spread out along the mountains and I took a rest, enjoying this great view.

Happo Nature Trail is going to the winter and the color changed into more dark. White stems of Dakekanba was impressive there. After 9:00 a.m, I met more and more people climbing to Mt. Karamatsu. By the way, around Mt. Karamatsu Chojo Sanso Hut, the temperature goes down to under 0 degree in October.

While walking on the east trail to Happo-ike Pond, I found bright autumn tints in the valley. I was very impressed by red and yellow Kaede, Tsutsuji and Dakekanba which are rare in this season. Anyway, Happo Alpen Line is open at 7:00 today and tomorrow and then, it will be open at 8:00 a.m. from Oct. 16 (Mon) to Oct. 29 (Sun) every day.
