We had a sunny day after about 1 week in this early morning. However, the clouds moved up very fast and the peaks of Northern Alps were already getting hazy even though I took the first gondola. Today, I met many mountaineers, such as a man from Chiba Pref. who gave me the watchword, “I always enjoy your reports!”

Under the summer sunlight, I climbed up toward Maruyama Cairn. Now, there are still 2 points where we have to walk on the snow by Maruyama Cairn and the first 130-meter slope is steep, so it is better to have crampons. By the way, there were colonies of Shiraneaoi before here.

After the snow slope, we could see Ougi-no-setsuden with much remaining snow on the left and the second snow trail to Maruyama Cairn on the right. In this season when the temperature gets high easily, the snow condition became worse soon, it is important to keep the route which is showed by the red paint.

At around 10:30 a.m. when I arrived at Maruyama Cairn, the view was just white. We could not see Northern Alps today, but a lot of alpine flowers such as Sarasadodan, Hakusantaigeki, Iwakagami, Nobichidori and Kijimushiro welcomed us.

In Happo Nature Trail, all of Broadwalk route is open in this morning. Along the gentle wooden paths, there are many alpine flowers, so you can enjoy trekking comfortably. Before the point the route gets together with Ridge Trail, we walk on the snow for only a short distance (Photo).
