“Silver Week” holidays start from today. It was cloudy as forecast and the sunlight was blocked off, so it was comfortable for trekking in the cool air. In the east sky, I could see dreamy soft beams of light.

Chillier it becomes in the mornings and evenings day by day, more bright the red and yellow autumn tints. I was impressed by the beauty of red Yamabukishoma (photo) and Hakusantaigeki around my feet.

The view from Cairn No.3 had turned into yellow as well and it made me look forward to the autumn season coming in late September. The trails were crowded with people and a lot of them climb up toward Mt. Karamatsu.

When I got to Happo-ike Pond, I put on my jacket again because of the strong chilly wind from the north west. The surface of the pond was rippling, so we could not see the beautiful mirror-like view refrecting mountains of Hakuba.

High and thin clouds are spreading out accross the sky, but the peaks of Northern Alps showed its clear ridges from Mt. Hakuba Norikura to Mt. Kashimayarigatake. Though those peaks go behind the clouds soon in the summer, we could see Mt. Goryu clearly now as you can see in the photo. The great autumn mountains welcomed me quietly in this morning.
