Around 6:40 a.m. when I climbed up by Grat Quad, the clear blue sky was spreading over the mountains. The sunlight was strong, but the temperature remained low. Besides, it was breezing, so I could enjoy trekking comfortably. In the early morning, the wooden path was slippy because of the morning dew.

When I looked back, the mountain ridges of Togakushi Peaks, Mt. Myoko, Mt. Asama and Mt. Azumaya were over the clouds. Tomorrow (Aug. 11) is “Mountain Day”, a national holiday in Japan, so I met many trekkers with big backpacks in the morning.

I found Takanematsumushisou, Hakusanshajin and Happowaremokou (Photo) around Happo-ike Pond. Happowaremokou is a crossbreed of Waremokou and Karaitosou. In the west part of the pond, Takanematsumushisou and Miyamakogomegusa made colonies.

The surface of Happo-ike Pond was quiet and mirrored the mountains clearly. In the view deck beside the pond, many people took photos with admiration. Around 8:00 a.m, this area got very crowded with trekkers and tourists.

The clouds gathered around 8:30 a.m. and blocked off the sunlight. Tamurasou, Umebachisou and Miyamadaimonjisou were in lively bloom in the trails from Happo-ike Sanso to Cairn No.2. By the way, Hakusanshajin in the lower part of the trail passed its peak.
