In this early morning, it was thickly foggy in Happo Nature Trail. I could not see the opposite bank of Happo-ike Pond at 7:00 a.m. still. The woman from Iwate Pref. who climbed down from the summit of Mt. Karamatsu said regretfully, “I was looking forward to see beautiful Happo-ike Pond reflecting the mountains…”

After that, when I reached to Shimo-no-kanba, the dreamy view of white birch forest with the mist jumped into my eyes. I could see the blue sky at that time and the weather got better and better, despite the weather forecast.

I climbed over the clouds in the upper part of Shimo-no-kanba and I could see the mountains of Hakuba floating in the sea of clouds. There were many trekkers to Mt. Karamatsu even in the early morning and they enjoyed this superb mountain vews.

The clouds started to break up as time passed and the visibility got better around Happo-ike Pond. From 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m, we could see the mountains in the clear sky, so a lot of people took photos from the scenic points around the pond. However, the sky became overcast again after 9:00 a.m and the ridges went behind the clouds.

Kinkouka was in almost full-bloom in the trails. I found the violet flowers such as Takanematsumushisou and Hakusanshajin as well. Happo-one Nature Trail was so crowded with people today, especially in the wooden paths.
