Grass around my feet looked to be lively with morning dew in the early morning. The sunlight was streaming into the forest, but the beech trees and fresh green leaves made comfortable shades. Pink and light blue hydrangeas were blooming along the paths. Unfortunately, Northern Alps had gone behind the clouds around 8:00 p.m.

The wooden deck is newly open in Kita-one Kogen Terrace (Hours: 9:30 a.m.－3:30 p.m), and we can take a rest or have lunch and drinks there. The restaurant is also open.

After trekking in the early morning, have an original lunch menu at Kita-one Kogen Terrace. The lunchtime starts at 10:00 a.m. One of the recommended dishes is Special Vegetable Curry (JPY1,200, with Blueberry Yogurt). The 18-grain rice gives a good texture and the spicy curry roux makes a nice harmony with it.

Shinshu Mashroom and Apple Miso Pizza (JPY1,300) is also worth trying once. The unique sweet miso made from apples brings out the flavor of salty cheese. Today was a hot day, so I found many people having Kogen Ice Cream (JPY380) as well.

The new wooden fences were put at the start point of Kita-one Kogen Highland Trail. The alpine flowers, especially Kooniyuri, were beautiful. There were Noazami, Okatoranoo, Shimotsukesou as well. In the small artificial pond, salamanders and frogs were living.
