The summer vacation has started! More and more people visit Happo Nature Trail day by day. It was raining yesterday, so some parts of the trails were slushy, while the wooden path and the rocky routes had got dry already.

Now is the best season for summer alpine flowers! I found unique flowers of Takanenadeshiko (photo), and Akabanashimotsukesou also started to come out. Kinkouka and Yotsubashiogama were also in bloom.

The clouds were moving fast, so the weather was changing rapidly. However, it got better and better and we could see the blue sky typical in the summer season. The beautiful view refreshed us greatly. The mountains often went behind the clouds, but only Mt. Kaerazu-no-ken showed us its ridge.

When I took a rest at Happo-ike Pond, the wind cooled me down. The temperature was not so high, 23 degrees. The benches were filled with people already.

On weekends in July 16－July 31 and Aug. 1－Aug. 14, Happo Alpen Line starts the operation at 6:00 a.m. and Kurobishi Line starts at 6:15 a.m. The early morning operation is highly recommended for trekking and mountaineering. I met many people trekking to Happo-ike Pond during climbing around 9:00 a.m.
