All of the ski areas in HAKUBA VALLEY had finished the operations on May 3 (Tue.). The Spring operation of Kitaone Kogen Highland started on April 29 (Fri.) and Kitaone Quad is open from May 9 (Mon.) to May 29 (Sun.). The mountains were getting covered with fresh green leaves and it was a cool day with breeze.

We could see the great view of Northern Alps crowned with remaining snow from the highland that has the elevation of 1,200 meters. The surface of a small pond reflected the three mountains of Hakuba. Some flowers were in bloom in the path of the forest.

The visitors can spend a relaxing time with benches and hammocks in the open space next to the Kitaone Quad. We also could enjoy the view from the lookout point (in the photo). It just 20-minute-walk to the view point on foot, so we can easily enjoy trekking in Kitaone Kogen Highland.

After enjoying trekking and the beautiful view, we took a break at Kitaone Kogen Terrace with recommended Flavor Tea (JPY380). There are 5 kinds of flavor, such as the apricot and blueberry. Hot Dog (JPY370), Oyaki (Japanese Dumpling, JPY200), and Scone (JPY150) are offered here as well.

It is thawing much faster than the usual and the snow remains only in the upper part in Happo. Happo Alpine Line (The gondola, Alpen Quad, Grat Quad) will start the operations on June 4 (Sat.). Kitaone Kogen Highland will be open until May 29 (Sun.) and then, will reopen on June 25 (Sat.) in the summer season.
