Tsugaike Kogen / ◎298cm / Cloudy2022.Mar.28

22032801_tsugaikeThe Tsugaike No. 1 Pair, Karamatsu High-Speed Pair, Kane-no-naru-oka Skyliner III and the Han-no-ki No. 1 Quad ended operation for the winter season yesterday. With that said, thanks to this season’s abundant snowfall, most runs are still skiable and the resort remains “fully open!” This morning I talked to a group of 7 people from Gifu Prefecture (pictured) who were the first on the Tsuga-no-mori Slope. They told me, “We love your site. Yesterday we weren’t able to talk to the reporter at Happo, so we’re really excited to get our picture taken today!”

22032802_tsugaikeWorking is continuing on a big kicker in the area alongside the Tsuga No. 1 Pair in preparation for the FIS Big Air Japan Cup 2022 taking place from 3/31 (Thurs.) to 4/2 (Sat.), and for the Hammer Banger Session 2022 which follows from 4/3 (Sun.) to 4/6 (Wed.). Conditions were great for fun, speedy runs on the Tsuga-no-mori (pictured) and Gotemba courses, where the firmly-groomed granular snow surfaces were covered in 1 to 2cm of fresh dry snow.

22032803_tsugaikeI spoke with 4 snowboarders from the Tokyo area (pictured), who told me, “We always check your reports. We’ve been boarding here in the Hakuba Valley since the day before yesterday, and chose to come to Tsugaike for today, our last day. Tsugaike is amazing!” The advanced lane through the TG PARKS’ Kitaone Course was closed today due to unfavorable conditions. The beginner to intermediate lanes of the Sawa Course were open and in excellent condition however.

22032804_tsugaikeIt was easy, smooth skiing on the Han-no-ki, Maruyama (pictured) and Kane-no-naru-oka slopes, where around 1cm of new snow topped off the well-packed, groomed granular snow surfaces. In other news, the Maruyama No. 1 Quad, Champion Quad, Shirakaba Quad and Kane-no-naru-oka Romance are set to close for the season at the end of the day on 3/31 (Thurs.), while the Kane-no-naru-oka Skyliner II and Tsugaike Chuo Triple will shut down at the conclusion of business on 4/3 (Sun.).
