A 2022-2023 NEW MODEL SNOWBOARD Test Ride・Pre-Order Event is being held from 3/19 (Sat.) to 3/21 (Mon.) at the Yuki-no-Hiroba, just outside of the gondola mid station (FREE, online reservations). Up to 140 people can register to participate each day, and as of today 3/20 (Sun.) at 10:30, the event appears to be playing out to great success (pictured). New models can be pre-ordered at a special price, and those who make a purchase will receive 2,000 Alpen Points (The equivalent of ¥2,000).

Boards from a total of 28 brands are on-site and available to test, including K2, HEAD, RIDE, SALOMON, YONEX, CAPITA, PLUTONIUM (pictured) and more, and participants can switch out and test as many boards, as many times as they like. Barcodes are being used to keep track of participants and boards, so the check-in at the entrance of the event area was operating smoothly.

Beginning at 12:00, the Red Bull JUMP & FREEZE took place at the course specially-constructed for the event (pictured). The event saw individuals in costumes riding sleds down a steep slope and launching themselves into a freezing pool of water. The competition saw a total of 16 teams being evaluated by 5 judges, hoping to achieve the top score of 9 from each judge.

The large audience on hand to watch the event was cheering loudly and enjoying the craziness. After being immersed in the cold water, participants rewarmed their bodies in a tent sauna and drank hot soup. First place received a season pass for next year as well as a complimentary rafting ticket, second place won an accommodation voucher for an overnight stay in Tsugaike Kogen, and third place took home a 1-day lift ticket for next season.
