Tsugaike’s TG PARKS is a full-spec terrain park enjoyable by skiers and boarders of all levels, and produced by Sho Sakanishi, a member of the professional snowboarding team HYWOD and one of Japan’s leading slopestyle coaches. One this weekend morning around 11:00, the park was full of both adults and children. With groomed wet-snow slopes that had the feeling of packed powder, it was good conditions for gaining speed and getting a good run up to park items.

The park’s Sawa Course features items aimed towards beginner and intermediate skiers and riders, while the layout of the One Course favors those who are more advanced. The first photo above shows a 6m down rail towards the beginning of the area that is suited towards advanced skiers. The most popular items seemed to be the Sawa Course’s back-to-back-to-back 5m, 7m and 7m kickers (pictured).

I noticed some people throwing in grabs and rotations off the 7m kicker (pictured). All of the items were very well crafted and maintained, which gave me peace of mind as I entered the area. It should be mentioned that the One Course features 12m and 13m kickers that even bring pro riders to Tsugaike for practice.

It was easy skiing on the vast, wide-open slopes of Kane-no-naru-oka where the firmly-groomed snow surface was composed of wet snow. The 51st Annual Tsugaike Snow Festival (Yuki no Saiten) is scheduled to be held here on 3/5 (Sat.). However, again this season, due to concerns over the spread of COVID-19, the event will be limited to a fireworks display.
