This morning the weather was stable, with the cloudy skies and warm temperatures continuing over from yesterday. Skiing conditions were good along the Han-no-ki High Speed Pair (pictured), where the groomed, wet snow surface was nice and firm. There was a steady stream of skiers on the slopes this weekend morning.

With that said, even at 9:30, there was still only a 1 to 2 minute, stress-free wait to ride the Han-no-ki High Speed Pair Lift. In contrast to the good conditions on Han-no-ki (pictured), the snow over on the ungroomed Gotenba Course (pictured), which is accessed from Tsuga-no-mori and has been open intermittently since 12/4 (Sat.), was hard and difficult to ski. The zigzagging cat track leading to the lift was groomed, but also hard with occasional clumps of snow and uneven spots.

I was able to get some good, enjoyable turns in on the middle of the Tsuga-no-mori Slope, which I found to be slightly softer than Han-no-ki. The hard-packed, ungroomed side areas looked rather uninviting, and I didn’t see many people giving them a go.

In other news, as of yesterday, 12/10 (Fri.), at 10:00 – the Burger King located at the gondola mid-station (Yuki-no-hiroba northern building) has opened. Drinks are served from 10:00, with food orders kicking off at 10:30. JACKY’s Kitchen is still open daily at 10:00.
