Tsugaike Ropeway has started its spring operation at 8:30 a.m. today! It will be open on every Friday to Sunday in March, Saturday and Sunday in April and everyday from April 29 (Thu) to May 5 (Wed). By the way, you need to purchase the extra ticket for Ropeway (1 way Adult JPY760, Child 380) and to submit the mountain climbing registration.

The sunlight was blocked off by the thick clouds, but it was a warm day with weak winds. The trail along the ridge (Photo) from the north part of Ropeway Summit Station to Tenguppara was in corn snow condition. Only the surface was soft, so we could hike up even without snowshoes or skins on gears.

It started to snow at around 10:30 a.m. in Tsugaike Nature Park which is located on an altitude of 1,850m. A couple from Aichi Pref. gave me a greeting, “We always enjoy your reports! I climbed up to Tenguppara for about 1 hour after the second line of the Ropeway. We saw some people keep hiking to Mt. Hakuba Norikura, but we skied down from there because it got snowy.”

The detour course from Ropeway Summit Station to Tsuga-no-mori was groomed now (Photo). The slope is very gentle, so there will be no hard points for beginners. This morning, almost all of the slopes in the ski area were in melted corn snow condition, so the skis did not run well.
