Although it was expected that the ski areas will be open after the strong cold weather in the next week, Tsugaike Mountain Resort is open today! Thanks to the good snowfall on Dec. 8 (Tue) and the new snowing machines, Tsugaike has started its operation earlier than any ski areas in HAKUBA VALLEY. From the gondola lift which was open at 8:00 a.m, we could see the white peaks of Northern Alps and the sea of clouds.

The temperature on the upper area was -1.4 degrees, but we didn’t feel cold because there was no wind. Now, the slope along Han-no-ki High Speed Pair Lift (Photo, 900m) is available and the condition was a little bit hard with the natural and artificial snow. There was some snowballs on the groomed slope.

However, the natural-snow-based slope was wide enough without any bushes, so we could enjoy skiing comfortably. Yesterday, it was announced suddenly that the ski area would be open today and also today was a weekday, so the slope was not busy in the early morning. By the way, Han-no-ki High Speed Pair was open 10 minutes later than the due time because of the inspection.

A man from Matsumoto City in Nagano give me the greeting, “I always check your reports! Fortunately, I got a day off today, so I could come skiing from the early morning! I am really happy to enjoy my home ski area finally!” Thank you all for giving me cheers and greetings today!
