Tsugaike Kogen / △270cm / Snowy2019.Apr.11

19041101_tsugaikeWe’ve got snow again since yesterday due to the low-pressure air that moved over Honsyu mainland of Japan. It’s already April but it has been chilly recently. Small dry snowflakes were whirling around in the strong northerly wind. There were patches of fresh snow on the firm compacted area along Hannoki High-speed Pair lift, which were like waves.

19041102_tsugaike“I enjoy your reports! I didn’t expect this amount of snow because it’s April.”, a skier coming from Ikeda-machi, Nagano said. Everyone seemed to be excited and I enjoyed having chats with many people. There was about 10 cm of fresh snow on the wet, firm, compacted snow in the middle area of Hannoki and I enjoyed going straight on the soft snow surface.

19041103_tsugaikeMy skis were stuck a bit on the gentle slope in the lower area of Hannoki as the fresh snow was getting wet. Karamatsu Slope also had about 5 cm of wet, fresh snow. I could not ski smoothly, however, it was nice that there was no bush or bare part.

19041104_tsugaikeTsuga No.2 Pair was suspended from the morning due to the strong wind. “We’re sorry that the lifts do not work. Anyway, we’ll hike up by ourselves and come down. We’re from Brazill but we love snowboarding!”, two snowboarders from Brazil (!) said in fluent Japanese.
