We had unexpected heavy snowfall last night! As of 8 a.m., strong wind was blowing at the upper part of the ski area and the operation of gondola above Shirakaba Station was suspended. After got off Shirakaba Quad, people were compete with others to ride on fresh snow.

There were about 50 cm fresh snow on the non-groomed area of upper part of Shirakaba and the bottom station of Han-no-ki No.3 Quad, and there were also 60 cm of fresh snow on the summiti station of same lift. The groomed area of Han-no-ki was nicely soft powder snow and I was excited with powder snow feeling for the first time in a while.

And today’s “main dish” was powder snow! There were more than 65 cm of fresh snow on the deepest place along Han-no-ki No.3 Quad. The snow was bit heavy, but I had the floating feeling and people were also shouting with joy.

Snowfall got weak at around 9 a.m. and the weak sun light started to shine. A couple from Ueda City, Nagano said, “This is our first visit to Tsugaike. Snow amount and condition are amazing even in mid-March. We want visit again.” By the way, the gondola started the operation from Shirakaba Station to the summit station from 1 p.m.
