“Haglöfs Natural Freeriding Tsugaike” is held at the special course of Shirakaba for two days; today and tomorrow. On the first day, free riding competition was held; which the players compete the skills and time of free riding, using natural terrain and items. Before the start of the competition, demonstration was held by guest riders; Ken Shibuya, Masahiro Maruyama, Keita Yamazaki and Keisuke Yoshida.

The staying cold weather made strong wind, therefore in the morning, the gondola went to only the central station. We desired for powdery snow, so we went to the summit of the ski slope, using Han-no-ki No1 Quad and No3 Quad. The powdery snow was pressed at the groomed area of Han-no-ki, so we could enjoyed skiing.

The non-groomed area along Han-no-ki No3 Quad was covered with about 30 cm of the light and fresh snow. Because the foundation was soft, we could feel the best floating, which made us excited! I saw advanced players who came the earliest drew a lot of ski tracks on the slope many times before it got crowded.

Thanks to the snow and the low temperature for a long time, all groomed slope are in powdery condition. At Shirakaba, the slope began to be spoiled at 9:00 a.m., but it didn’t disturb our skiing because the quality of the snow was still dry and light. At 9:30 Gondola started the operation from central station to summit station, so I saw many visitors went to central station.
