We had a blizzard in the early morning, but there was a lull of the snowstorm in the lower areas of the ski area after 8:00 a.m. However, it was still blowing a strong wind in the upper areas, so the gondola between the intermediate station and summit station and lifts in the upper parts from Han-no-ki No.3 Quad were all suspending the operation. In Maruyama, the groomed soft slope was covered with 3－4cm fresh snow.

Suddenly, a child antelope appeared in front of us! Its cute looks attracted us and we saw it for a while. This biggest cold wave which brought a cold weather with -17 degrees in the upper part and – 7 degrees in the lower part might make it lose its way….

The lower gentle slope of Han-no-ki was nicely groomed and very soft. Even beginners could enjoy riding here, so some people skied there by Han-no-ki No.1 Quad again and again. By the way, the amount of the snow on the sides of the slope was about 30cm deep in lower Han-no-ki, Shirakaba and Maruyama.

I met 2 people from Kanagawa and Tochigi. They said, “We come to Hakuba several times a year. Today, it is very cold but the snow is fine. Besides, we can snowboard in this vast slopes at our own pace, so it is awesome!” The wide slopes of Kane-no-naru-oka were groomed well and topped with 5cm fresh snow.
