The temperature got low due to the wintry pressure pattern and the dry snow fell in the last night. Today, it was blowing a strong wind, so the gondola and the lifts in the upper areas from Shirakaba Quad were closed. Maruyama No. 1 Quad started the operation 10 minutes later than usual. When I head for the lift, I could see the beautiful white slopes of Maruyama and Kane-no-naru-oka No.2.

Maruyama was groomed well and covered with thin fresh snow. An expert skier from Tokyo gave me the watchword and said, “I always enjoy your reports. I have to take paid holidays, so I am staying here for a week. The good cold has come back, but skis do not run well….”

The snow in Oya-no-hara was not corn snow either, not typical of March. Besides, the slope looked to be groomed later, so there hardly was fresh snow on the run, so I could ski comfortably without getting disturbed by damp snow. By the way, the amount of fresh snow was 15cm in the sides!

The 670m wide slope of Kane-no-naru-oka was also groomed well. However, the difference between the hard parts and compacted fresh snow made the condition difficult. After that, all of the lifts except for the upper gondola and Tsuga No.2 Pair were open at around 9:30 a.m.
