Today, we report the ski area with a model, NINA. In the calm sunny weather typical of March, the first “Tsugaike Helicopter Skiing & Snowboarding” was held! Entry was started at 8:00 a.m. at the counter in the gondola intermediate station and staffs went up to the heliport in Tenguppara at the same time for safety check.

The first helicopter left Snow Square to Tenguppara at 9:30 a.m. During the flight for 7 minutes, we could enjoy the great panoramic view of the ski area and Northern Alps below. In Tenguppara (2,200m), the temperature was -7 degrees and it was blowing a strong wind, so I felt very cold there.

The first guests from Chiba and Toyama Pref. gave me the watchword, “We always enjoy your reports!” The 3 straight holidays starts on today, so I met many people with equipment for back-country skiing. The east slope of Mt. Hakuba Norikura was all white and it showed the amount of snow was very much.

After the 15 minute walking a 500m path going up gently, we arrived at the about 4km riding slope toward Tsugaike Nature Park. In this morning, the snow was heavy and some parts were hard, but we could enjoy the pleasure of making the first track on the fresh vast slope.
