Sugadaira Kogen / ◎130cm / Cloudy & Sunny2022.Jan.27
“We check your website regularly! You took a photo for us on the first running day of Tsugaike Ropeway in the early spring of last year! We’ll hike Mt. Nekodake and enjoy backcountry skiing today.”, a couple coming from Aichi Prefecture said (pictured). It was foggy around Oku Davos No.1 Triple Station, which is located at the end of Sugadaira, at 9:30 am.
[Downhill]
The sun sometimes appeared from and went behind clouds blown by the strong northern wind. Oku Davos was all covered with powder snow! Snow was nicely soft on the top and middle area of No,1 Beginner Course. On the other hand, snow was firmly groomed on the bottom area of No.1 Beginner Course, No.1 Intermediate Course, No.1 Advanced Course, No.2, and No.3 (pictured).
[Oku Davos No.3]
It was very quiet just after the resort opened at 8:30 am, as Japan expanded its COVID-19 quasi emergency to 34 prefectures. It gradually got crowded because students on a school trip started to take lessons around 9 am. Wet snow was hard pack on Oku Davos Panorama (pictured), Oku Davos East, and West. It was a bit difficult to grip the snow with ski edges, and I saw some people trying hard to control speed.
[Omote Davos Panorama]
It started to snow around 9:30 am. The intermediate Ura Davos Wave was very quiet (pictured), while other courses were crowded with students. I enjoyed gaining speed on the groomed wet snow, using edges.
