Shiga Kogen / ◎290cm / Cloudy & Snowy2022.Mar.18

A snowboarder from Saitama Prefecture gave me the greeting, “I always enjoy your reports! The operation of the gondola and lifts in Okushiga Kogen was suspended temporarily because of the strong wind, so I moved to Mt. Yakebitai Ski Area. There is fresh snow today! I will enjoy it!” It was blowing a cold west wind in the cloudy sky this morning.

When I skied into Giant Slalom Course (Photo) from the summit station of No.1 Gondola, I found the 3cm wet but fresh snow on the nicely firm groomed slope of corn snow. I heard people were excited with the fresh snow like, “Wow, we have fresh snow!” and “I never expected fresh snow in this season!”

The groomed slope of corn snow in Giant Slalom Course (Photo) was getting melted and soft as I skied down. My skis ran well there, so I could enjoy comfortable cruising on the 2,062m long slope.

The groomed slope of Olympic Course (Photo) was also nicely firm and covered with 3cm fresh snow. In Middle Connecting Course, the groomed slope of corn snow which was nicely firm already started to melt. It started to snow slightly at around 9:30 a.m. and the wind got much stronger at 10:00 a.m, so No.2 Gondola was closed at the moment.
