A skier from Saitama Prefecture (Photo) gave me the greeting, “I always enjoy your reports! I met you on the first day visiting Nozawa Onsen as well. It is relatively quiet in Mt. Nishidate on weekdays, so I could enjoy the slopes as it is mine.” The snow falling from this morning got heavier at around 8:30 a.m.

The temperature was warmer than usual because of the south coast low pressure pattern in Japan, but it still remained cold in Shiga. The 3-5cm fresh snow on the slopes was dry and light. The groomed slopes of Mt. Nishidate Intermediate Course (First Photo) and Mt. Nishidate Takamagahara Area were nicely firm and the good condition enabled us to ski down smoothly and speedily, so I could enjoy curving as I wanted.

In the wide slope of Buna-daira Area (Photo), the half of the course was groomed well. The flat skier’s right side had 1-3cm fresh snow and the skier’s left covered with shallow bumps had 5cm fresh snow. After that, the slopes got crowded with groups of mainly college students at around 10:00 a.m.

It was blowing no winds and not chilly, so I did not feel cold while in the ski area. In Mt. Nishidate Beginner Course (Photo), the groomed slope was softer than the other course and covered with 5-10cm fresh snow. I could ski comfortably while kicking away the fluffy snow.
