2 people from Shizuoka Prefecture (Photo) gave me a greeting, “We always enjoy your reports! We have been enjoying snowboarding in Shiga Kogen for 3 days from the day before yesterday. We often visit Hakuba, Myoko and Nozawa Onsen as well as Shiga Kogen. Each ski area has attractive slopes.” The groomed slope of Panorama In Course, a gentle slope good for beginners, was nicely firm and covered with 6-8cm fresh snow, so we could ski comfortably.

This snowy morining, people started to come to the slopes very lately because it was on a weekday of January and the infection of Coronavirus was expanding rapidly again. Most people went to Panorama Course (Photo) from Mt. Yakebitai No.2 Gondola. The slope toward Shirakaba Course and Buna Course was nicely firm and covered with 1-2cm fresh snow.

In front of the west annex of Shiga Kogen Prince Hotel, there is “Family Snow Park” (*Adult & 4-12 y/o JPY1,500, Under 3 y/o Free). You can go up by 70 meter long Snow Escalator and play with Snow Cycle (Photo), Snowscoot and Sleds. This area also can be used for practicing skiing by beginners.

It was just lightly snowing while my first run in Panorama Course, but getting more heavily from 9:00 a.m. In Karamatsu Course, the firm groomed slope was covered with 10cm fresh snow. The powdery snow was flowing over my skis so smoothly.
