The amount of the snow in Shiga Kogen is getting more and more gradually. In Sun Valley (Photo), Maruike and Hasuike where are located at the lower parts in Shiga Kogen as an entrance to the mountains at the altitude of 1,410-1,602m, it is officially announced that the snow amount is 130cm deep. The groomed slopes of these 3 ski areas were nicely firm and in a good condition generally.

Both Maruike B (Photo) and Maruike C are gentle slopes good for beginners and warming up. The off-piste area of Maruike A Course (Max 32°, Average 27°) was covered with shallow bumps and there were some bushes exposed, so a caution board was set there. “Maruike Snow Land”, a play park for kids, in the lower part of Maruike No.2 Area is open on Monday, Friday, Saturday and holidays from Jan. 11 to Mar. 21.

In Giant Area, you can enjoy the wide steep groomed slope which has a max degree of 34, average degree of 17 and total length of 1km. By the way, Giant Nanamagari Course, a detour course, is open as well. Although it was cloudy with the soft sunlight this morning, it started to snow weakly at 10:00 a.m.

The slope of Sun Valley A + Shirokuma Course (Photo) along Hozaka No.1 Quad in Sun Valley was covered with shallow bumps in the upper part and deep bumps in the lower part, so it was in a difficult condition. The 4 ski areas reported today were relatively quiet because it was a weekday after 3 straight holidays.
