A snowboarder from Tokyo (Photo) said, “I come snowboarding to Shiga Kogen during the New Year Holidays every year. Anyway, how cold it is! My GoPro does not work well because of this coldness.” The temperature was -7℃ at the parking area in Ichinose (Altitude 1,600m) as of 7:30 a.m. The top area of Terakoya Ski Area (Photo) is 400m higher than here.

The officially announced temperature was -5℃, however, I felt like it was almost -10℃ actually because of the snow with the strong north wind. Instead, the snow was so good thanks to this cold wave. The groomed slope of LIPS Course (Photo) was nicely soft and covered with 3-5cm fresh snow this morning.

The slopes of Eternal Course (Photo) and Philosophy Course (Forth Photo) were also in a great condition as well as LIPS. After that, the wind got stronger and blocked our visibility while raising up the snow sometimes. By the way, there was 20cm of fresh snow in the off-piste areas on the sides of the course.

5 people from Aichi Prefecture said, “We always enjoy your reports! We are so happy to meet you, Snownavi, during our 2 night stay in Shiga! Although it is typically cold in Shiga Kogen, the snow is in an amazing condition.” After that, the slopes of Takamagahara Mammoth were nicely firm and covered with 3cm fresh snow.
