Today, Mt. Yakebitai was open on Dec. 4 (Sat) finally after Mt. Yokote open on Nov. 19 (Fri), Kumanoyu on Nov. 26 (Fri), Takamagahara on Nov. 28 (Sun) and Ichinose Family on Dec. 1 (Wed), so totally 5 ski areas and 21 courses are open in Shiga Kogen now! In Mt. Yakebitai, we could ski on the 2,800 meter-long course from Panorama Course (Photo) to South Course.

Although it was slightly foggy in the upper part, it did not matter to skiing and Panorama Course was in good condition with its nicely firm groomed slope. The well-groomed slope enabled me to make turns as I expected. A couple from Tokyo gave me the greeting, “We always enjoy your reports! This is our first time to ski in this season. We join to “SALLOT CLUB” now and we happened to meet 2 of the members today here.”

The groomed flat slope of South Course (Photo) was a little harder than that of Panorama Course and in good condition as well. By the way, the ski area was generally crowded with people (*350 people visited already at 10:00 a.m.), but we needed to wait for the gondola lift for just 5 minutes and no time for lifts.

There was enough snowfall from the top to bottom and no bushes were exposed at all. In Mt. Yokote, “The 54th Shiga Kogen Ski Areas Opening Ceremony” was held at 11:00 a.m. (*Only “Praying Ceremony for Safety” was held this year) On Dec. 4 (Sat) and Dec. 5 (Sun), you can get the lift ticket at JPY3,600 for an adult and JPY1,600 for a child as “Ski Area Opening Ceremony Special Lift Ticket”.
