Sanosaka / 〇20cm / Snowy and Sunny2017.Jan.01

17010101_sanosakaHappy new year! It was snowy in the morning of new year’s day, though a blue sky spread around 10:00 am. There was almost no wind and it was comfortable with the warm sunshine. New Paradise Slope was non-groomed and I saw some bushes on the north side of the No.5 pair lifts.

17010102_sanosakaSnow surface was wet and heavy, and I sometimes lost my balance. A lot of people had skied down the south side of No.5 pair lifts, so the area 3~4m wide was trodden hard. I was impressed by advanced skiers turning on a dime.

17010103_sanosakaSome people were saying, “It’s very beautiful!” on the Lake Down Course, which overlooks Aoki Lake. A couple from Matsumoto city, Nagano, who came to Hakuba Sanosaka for the first time this season, told me “We see your reports every day.” The slope was non-groomed and there were small ups and downs. Also, it was a little bit heavy, so it was difficult to ski down with speed.

17010104_sanosakaThe amount of snow announced officially was only 20 cm. You can rent ski at 1,000 JPY for a day at Castor Plaza. I skied down Paradise Slope, which opened first, with care. For your information, you can ski down Paradise Down Hill, however, I recommend using No.2 Quad to descend.
