Although the sky was covered with clouds at Roadside Rest Area Huketsu-no-sato, it got sunny when I arrived at Nomugi Touge Ski Area which has an elevation of 1,400m at its base area. A man from Toyohashi City in Aichi Pref. gave me a greeting, “I always check your reports! I come skiing in Nomugi Touge for the first time in the last decade. I slept in my car on the way last night, but it took just 4 hours by car even without using the highway.”

The beautiful view of the mountains including Mt. Norikura (3,026m), Mt. Ontake (3,067m) and Hotaka Mountain Range in the hazy sky typical in the spring season. The upper part of Champion Course was groomed and in firm corn snow condition. I could enjoy skiing at high speed with sharp edging.

The upper part of Rabbit Course, Expert Course and Champion Course 2 were also firm. The lower parts of Champion and Champion 2 (Photo) were nicely firm with corn snow. The sunlight was warm from the open of lifts this morning, but the surface of snow did not get too wet and soft.

Training Bahn (Photo) was nicely firm and in corn snow condition. There was a much snowfall of 40-50cm in the last weekend, so the ground was never exposed and the snow was keeping its white surface. Nomugi Touge Ski Area will finish the operation of this season in 10 days.
