Ice fishing for Wakasagi (Japanese pond smelt) started in Lake Nakatsuna (pictured), which is next to Kashimayari Snow Resort, on Feb.5 (Sat) for the first time in four years (※7 am ~ 3 pm, Ticket: Adult JPY1,000, Under 16 y/o JPY 500). I saw about 100 shelters on the lake on the first day, and about 20 shelters this morning.

It was comfortable with no wind just after Chuo Slope opened, although it was cloudy. Powder snow was nicely groomed on Course 5-A (pictured)! Firm moguls were blanketed with about 10 cm of light, soft, fresh snow on 5-B and 5-C.

It’s been freezing and snowy. Powder snow was nicely packed on Kurosawa (pictured), 1-A (pictured in the 4th photo), Maruyama Slope, Ippon Buna Downhill Course, Nakatsuna Beginners Slope. I enjoyed leaving my tracks on the snow.

“We’re on spring holiday. We’re coming here to Kashimayari for the first time with the Orion tour. The snow is soft! It’s so fun!”, four students coming from Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture said. “The snow is so soft that it doesn’t hurt even if I fall down.”, a beginner in Maruyama Slope said.
