The weather gradually cleared up around 9 a.m. “Skiboard Festival” was held on January 25 (Sat) and 26 (Sun). About 70 people joined yesterday. Skiboarders and fun skiers stated to gather and ski down before 1 p.m. today.
[Kashima Slope: Course3]
The compacted snow was firm and nice in Kashima Slope. I saw festival participants turning round and skiing backward on the flat gentle slope. My ski edges dug into the snow and I enjoyed carving turns in Kurosawa Slope, where the compacted snow was nicely firm.
[Kashima Slope: Course3]
The compacted snow was firm in the top and middle parts of Course 1-A. The bottom steep slope covered with a thin layer of artificial snow was also firm and nice. Ipponbuna Downhill Course was hard and undulating, which was difficult to go down. The snow was hard in Nakatsuna Beginners Slope too and there were some bushes.
[Toomi Grand View A: Course1]
Shimashika Kids Park started to crowded with families sledding in the snow around 9:30 a.m. (500 yen/day, 9:00 a.m. ~ 4 p.m.) You can use various types of sleighs in the park for free. You can also rent Snowstrider, Snowpower, and Snowracer for 300 yen an hour. There’s a moving walkway, too.
