The last day of Student Ski Competition IWATAKE (Demo Skiing Division) was blessed with a beautiful sunny day. A lot of participants gathered for the finals and the Group Division (Mixed, Women’s, Men’s) started. The members of Waseda University Zermatt Ski Club (Photo) said, “This is our first competition this winter because of the COVID-19. We were so nervous before our performance, but we were able to have a great time!”

I was expecting that the starting point would be in a nervous mood, but to my surprise, the participants were relaxed and allowed me to take their photos. The members of Tsudajuku University Glaier Ski Team (Photo) said, “We are so nervous that we can hear our heart beating”, but they gave me some poses.

The slopes are often in corn snow condition in this season, but the snow was very good this winter. However, the sunlight was strong today and the groomed slopes melted at around 11:00 a.m. By the way, Mixed Group Division (Women and Men) of 18 teams will be held at 1:00 p.m. for the first time at this competition.

The girls from Japan Women’s University Basic Ski Club Ⅰ who scored 476 points at Women’s Freestyle Division said, “We are all in the junior year at our university and we got the first prize for the first time!” By the way, the winners of both the women’s and men’s division of the group program and group freestyle were the members of Shinshu University Demo Ski Club Ⅰ. In Club Combined Division, Shinshu University Demo Ski Club won the men’s and Waseda University Suga Ski Club won the women’s division!
