The clouds were covering whole of the sky this morning. There was no sunlight and the weak south wind was blowing, so we felt colder than the actual temperature. A man from Fukui Pref. (Photo) gave me a greeting, “I always enjoy your reports! I come to Iwatake for the first time in 25 years to support my daughter participating in Student Ski Competition. I hope she will do her best and make a good result.”

The groomed slope of South (Photo) was very firm and in corn snow condition. The edges did not work well on the hard parts, so beginners slowed down and ski carefully there. However, I saw experts riding at high speed smoothly.

The surface of the snow got melted and soft just after 30 minutes and the groomed slope of East was nicely firm for cruising at around 8:30 a.m. Sunny Valley Course was nicely soft and Paradise was in wet and melted corn snow condition.

In Kamoshika Racing Course (Photo), the female division of “Student Ski Competition IWATAKE (Alpen Devision)” was held today. The wet and melted corn snow forced skis slow down and sometimes get stuck, so the participants were struggling with that hard conditions.
