Hakuba Iwatake / △120cm / Snowy2019.Jan.09

19010901_iwatakeWe had the heaviest snow of this season! It was snowing in earnest on the strong northerly wind and my visibility sometimes got poor because a gust of wind raised a cloud of snow. There was about 60cm of snow on the non-compacted area along South Slope as well as FIVE SIDE, which was soft because of the wind.
[South Slope]
19010902_iwatakeAbout 5-15 cm of fresh snow lied on the firm, compacted South Slope, Gezan Course, and Sunny Valley Course. I enjoyed making turns, feeling the dry fresh snow. “We enjoy your reports! We went to Cortina yesterday and we’ll be at Iwatake today and tomorrow. The snow is great today!”, a couple coming from Aichi said.

19010903_iwatakeBushes have disappeared on Sunny Valley Course and Paradise Slope thanks to the heavy snow. Paradise Slope was firm, flat and nice with 5-10 cm soft fresh snow on it. By the way, more than 40 cm fresh snow lied on the non-compacted side of Paradise.
[Paradise Slope]
19010904_iwatakeThe snow calmed down around 9:30 and a soft sunlight cast. Skier’s right side of East Slope was compacted, which was as wide as two Pisten, however, other area was non-compacted. “We enjoy your reports! This is first time for our 4-year-old daughter to come to ski slope.”, a family coming from Shizuoka said. By the way, I found over 50 cm of fresh snow at the sides of both East and North.
