Iwatake/ ◎230cm / Snowy2018.Feb.17
It started snowing from the early morning. The snowfall became thick and fast around 8:00 a.m. when Gondola started working. A skier from Kyoto together with 2 families gave me the watchword, “We always enjoy your reports! It’s my birthday today and I turned 64.” Happy birthday!

Northerly wind was blowing at the top of Snow Field. I felt freezing because of the snow blowing strongly from my side. There was about 5 cm of light new snow on South Slope, which is nicely firm and flat. The edge didn’t work very well, however, the skies ran well. I saw some people riding down at high speed, raising a cloud of snow.

The wet snow was falling in earnest. My ski wear became all white while I was on the lift. East Slope was well-groomed and nicely firm. About 5 cm of new snow had already been rough around 9:00 a.m. because of edging.

As I reached Sunny Valley Course, the wind was getting weaker and snow was falling more silently. The slope was nicely firm. There was a pile of new snow because of turning, however, it was okay because it didn’t block my way. Paradise Slope was covered with heavy snow but the bottom was nicely firm. The slope was a bit rough and difficult to ski.
