The on-and-off rain over the last two days subsided, and there was a chill in the air with light snow falling at the top of the mountain this morning. Fog rolled in and out over the Usagidaira and Kurobishi slopes, but wasn’t thick enough to impair performance. The groomed granular-snow surfaces alongisde the Kurobishi No. 2 Quad (pictured) and on Usagidaira were hardpacked in the early morning hours.

The granular-snow surface of the mogul-covered slope paralleling the Alpen Quad (pictured) was soft from the start of the day. The moguls of varying size and depth presented a technical challenge that had me wanting to drop in again and again to find the perfect line. It was similarly-soft conditions on the moguls near the Kurobishi No. 3 Pair, which made it less intimidating and easier to ski.

In other news, tomorrow 4/17 (Sun.), is the last Kids Ski Free Day of the season! This morning I spoke with a father from Aichi Prefecture (pictured, left), who told me, “I love your site. I come out every weekend to ski with my daughter. I’m pretty surprised to see that it’s snowing today!”

There are a number of events slated for each weekend throughout the month of April. Today the RIDE TEAM SESSION 2022 was taking place between 10:00 and 15:00, with a rider session (pictured) featuring more than 15 pro riders, a test ride event, and a prize drawing. In addition the Alpen Test Ride・Pre-Order Event is being held from 4/16 (Sat.) ? 4/18 (Mon.). (※Limited to 100 participants per day).
