The Olympic Course I and II, as well as the Central Course, Kitaone Course and Sakka Slope closed at the end of business on 3/27 (Sun.). In addition, spring skiing discounts kicked in for adults on 3/28 (Mon.), and 1-day lift tickets are currently JPY4,500 for adults and JPY1,000 for elementary school students. The weather was fantastic today, with clear, mostly-windless skies, and the views of the Northern Alps (pictured) from the top of the resort were excellent.
[Kurobishi Slope]
The area alongside the Kurobishi No. 2 Quad (pictured here and above) featured a moderately-firm, groomed granular snow surface, and its north-facing location helped to maintain good conditions longer than elsewhere. It was easy to set and maintain an edge, and made for smooth and easy skiing. The Skyline Course is currently closed, but is slated to reopen on 4/2 (Sat.).
[Kurobishi Slope]
First thing this morning I was able to enjoy a fun, fast run on the Panorama Course (pictured), where the firmly-groomed, granular-snow surface was beginning to moisten up. It was spring slush conditions even before the start of business over on the groomed area of Usagidaira, which receives direct sunlight. There were mid to large-size moguls in the areas parallel to the Alpen Quad and the Kurobishi No. 3 Pair.
[Panorama Course]
Around 9:00, there was already a thick, loose top layer of granular snow on the groomed Riesen Course (pictured). A skier making his way down (pictured) called out to me, saying, “I love your site. It’s hot, isn’t it!” The nicely-soft Shirakaba Slope still has plenty of snow and conditions are comfortable for skiing all the way down to the gondola base station.
