Another day, another dump of fresh snow, this time with all of it falling after the calendar switched over at the stroke of midnight. The firmly-groomed, powder snow surface alongside the Kurobishi No. 2 Quad (pictured) was covered in around 15cm of fluffy, new snow. Visibility was low due to falling snow and fog hanging over the slopes, and I could see people taking extra caution as they skied.

The groomed packed powder surface of Usagidaira (pictured) was also topped off with around 15cm of new snow. I enjoyed a few runs on the ungroomed areas parallel to the Alpen Quad and Kurobishi No. 3 Pair, which had roughly 30cm of new snow resting atop a moderately-firm uneven base that I did bottom out on from time to time. Afterwards I made my way lower down the mountain, and the fog finally began to thin around the Skyline Course, where the groomed slope surface sat under 20cm of new snow.

I talked with a skier from Osaka (pictured), who told me they loved our site, before adding, “I just did a run on Urakuro, and now I’m heading over to Kitaone. My goal for the day is to hit every course on the mountain.” Visibility and conditions were good on the Kitaone Forest Cat Track (pictured), where once again the groomed, packed powder surface was moderately firm, and covered in around 5cm of new snow.

I was greeted by a group of 3 skiers (pictured), and surprised when I heard that the 2 on the far left were a couple from Kochi Prefecture, and the other skier joining them in the photo was from Aichi. The grooming on Riesen was just right this morning, and the slope was topped off with around 7 to 8cm of new snow.
