The trees from the mid to upper portions of the resort were covered in frost this morning as a result of the overnight dusting of around 1cm of snow. Despite the frost giving the appearance of unforgiving cold, this last day of the 3-day weekend featured cloudy skies and comfortable temperatures. I occasionally ran into thin veils of fog, but not enough to significantly alter visibility or affect my skiing.

The area alongside the Kurobishi No. 2 Quad (pictured) was beautifully groomed, with an excellent packed powder snow surface! It was perfect for setting and maintaining edge control for precise turns. I noticed a number of skiers using the Kurobishi No. 2 Quad Lift to repeat runs there first thing this morning, with smooth, sharp turns.

I also enjoyed some high-paced runs on Panorama and the groomed Usagidaira route (pictured), where the powder snow surface was nice and firm. The bumps on the slope alongside the Alpen Quad were of intermediate size, and the snow surface parallel to the Kurobishi No. 3 Pair was noticeably uneven. With that said, the moderately-packed snow in both areas was relatively easy to ski.

The snow surface on Skyline’s central groomed area was reasonably firm from top to middle, and noticeably firmer towards the bottom. Yesterday’s sunshine and warm temperatures definitely had an effect on the on groomed Sakka Slope, where conditions today saw a firm, wet snow surface. Conditions were similar on Shirakaba.
