The 3-day weekend got of to a great, sunny start today. As was the case during the year-end and New Year holiday period, 14 lifts were operating today, and all courses with the exception of the Kitaone No. 3 Slope (*training / competition area) were open. Overnight radiative cooling brought on by the clear, cloudless skies saw temperatures drop below -10℃ across the entire resort, ensuring excellent snow quality from top to bottom.

Conditions were superb, with great snow and moderately firm surfaces on the groomed areas of Usagidaira (1st photo), alongside the Kurobishi No. 2 Quad (pictured), as well as on Panorama and Skyline. Digging in my edges for sharp, strong turns sent fluffy clouds of spray tailing behind me. I could almost feel my skis flexing and rebounding off the slope, enabling me to execute comfortable turns on repeat.

As a Snownavi reporter, I felt thankful for the many people who acknowledged me by waving or letting me know they love our site. Over on Sakka, Shirakaba and the lower areas of the resort, the grooomed snow was tightly packed and conditions were great.

There was no new snow overnight, but the ungroomed areas along the Kurobishi No. 3 Pair and Alpen Quad were still full of dry, soft snow. The untouched snow remaining at the top of the Kitaone Course (pictured) was particularly impressive. It felt light and fluffy, like freshly fallen snow.
